Daniel Craig and Omega team up to support the worthy efforts of Orbis International, as featured in new National Geographic Channel film

We’ve covered and encouraged James Bond-related philanthropy in the past.

But this may be the closest tie yet to a charity supported by “James Bond watches.” Fantastic!

When Daniel Craig became an official Ambassador for Omega, the key emphasis was on both parties’ support for Orbis International.

Earlier this month, Omega updated its site with news of an upcoming documentary to be broadcast on the National Geographic Channel. Filmed in 2011, it includes Mr Craig’s visit to Mongolia along with Orbis medical professionals.

Content centers around the Orbis “Flying Eye Hospital” plane that takes treatment to need.

In its official statement, Omega notes that it “has created a special watch — the Hour Vision Blue [a De Ville model] — to celebrate the partnership, and has guaranteed that at least one million US dollars from its sale will be donated to Orbis International in support of its remarkable work.”

Most current model from all confirmed James Bond watch brands: In a single shot

Confession: I actually completed work on this image around the same time as the James Bond watch group photo referenced here almost 2 months ago.

And it’s my favorite of the pair.

But I like to mix it up a bit. And strive for balance (information permitting) in discussing all known James Bond watch brands — each of which has its own passionate following.

At the same time, 10 days ago it was starting to look like this one would be out-of-date by the time I’d released it. That was when one Omega watch Authorized Dealers posted extensive details on what it said would be “the” Skyfall James Bond watch. That “scoop” was subsequently retracted.

Thus these remain, still, the most current models from among each of the known James Bond watch makers.
