Carte Blanche James Bond Rolex watch identification postmarks

Historic postmarks commemorating key dates in discovery of the Carte Blanche James Bond Rolex

To commemorate discovery of the Rolex James Bond watch model in Carte Blanche, we obtained a number of special United States postmarks tied to key historical dates here.

As long-time readers of this blog will recall, it’s a tradition that started with The Ian Fleming Centenary.

Now, regarding Carte Blanche, published by Hodder & Stoughton in the United Kingdom on May 26, 2011, best selling author Jeffery Deaver had identified a 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual as the personal James Bond watch in that novel.

But he did not indicate a reference number or dial configuration — leaving final specifications open to interpretation from among quite a few current offerings.

On June 10, 2011, I finally (exclusively) closed the loop with Mr Deaver on this matter. He confirmed to me that this James Bond watch was (is) a Rolex 115200 Oyster Perpetual Date, with black dial, domed bezel.

The following Tuesday, I was in New York City for the Carte Blanche VIP launch party hosted by US publisher Simon & Schuster.

Rare as it is to have a copy of Carte Blanche specifically autographed by Jeffery Deaver on that date, I can’t imagine that anyone else has a publication-day signature connected to the James Bond 115200 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date.
