Another James Bond Watches exclusive
Ian Fleming would have been one hundred years old on May 28, 2008.
Numerous commemorations were scheduled to coincide approximately with that date, and the year that followed is generally referred to as “The Ian Fleming Centenary.”
One of several ways that James Bond Watches honored the man and his legacy on that date was to create a number of envelopes with images specifically related to Ian Fleming.
These were then stamped and mailed from two locations. One was the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, where Mr. Fleming’s personal, bound manuscripts for his James Bond books are archived at the Lilly Library. The second, from Southeast Michigan, where James Bond Watches is based.
I personally celebrated The Ian Fleming Centenary at the Lilly Library on May 28, 2008. (Among other things, I was there completing research on my article for the February 2009 issue of WatchTime magazine, “Found: James Bond’s Rolex — James Bond, like his creator Ian Fleming, wore a Rolex Explorer I.”)
Following are exclusive images made for James Bond Watches by Dell Deaton.
