Following are results of a poll I ran in a highly-trafficked forum frequented by aficianados from across the spectrum of watch interests. I posted this survey on November 14, 2006, and ran it for 7 days. The thread was viewed approximately 290 times and garnered 38 votes as distributed below in response to the following question.

Do you have to actually own the watch you’re researching, interested in, passionate about to be ultimately satisfied in your search?

61%   Only a permanent acquisition will do!
29%   I’m happy to have owned the watch for a while, then sell it.
5%   Holding it in my hand, knowing I have the cash to buy it: I can walk away after that.
5%   “The chase” is all I really need!
None   No opinion / no answer
