No definitive word yet on the watch(es) Daniel Craig will wear as James Bond in Quantum of Solace. But Omega SA has jumped the crowd of Basel announcements by giving us a glimpse of its promised “James Bond Collector’s Piece” via press kit dated 12 March 2008 on its website.
This new watch is said to feature “a polished, lacquered black dial with black gold plated hour markers filled with white Super-LumiNova. The luminous hour and minute hands are also plated with black gold [sic]. The watch has a central seconds hand with a red tip and a red ’007′ logo as a counterweight…. Only 10,007 pieces of this exclusive Seamaster will be produced.”
So we’re talking about something along the lineage of the reference 2220.80 Seamaster 300 M Chronometer worn through the close of Casino Royale, as opposed to some variant on the 2900.50.91 Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Size with which the film opened. And it could be nothing more than a licensed product, sans any claim of actual wrist time in a 007 feature.
